Whitney Treloar, Certified Health Coach
Growing up, I thought my parents were healthy, but they were slowly making themselves sick, one lifestyle choice at a time. They each suffered with Type 2 Diabetes, were morbidly obese, had high blood pressure and cholesterol. They hurt, took pills, and felt LOUSY. My mother turned her health around. My father died at 70.
My own diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes came in my 30s, on the heels of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, morbid obesity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Fibromyalgia (CFS/ME). I felt terrible. I hurt. My kids were already taking care of me.
In 2011, I had bariatric surgery. My paradigm changed. I cooked differently. I started learning about nutrition. My family shared my victories as I gained mobility and health. I went from 22 prescription pills a day to zero. My Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol are “resolved.” My Fibromyalgia is manageable.
My Diabetic husband joined me in my journey. Our habits are improving. Our children are watching!! I don’t want to be in a container on my kids’ mantel. I intend to be at their kids’ births, games, graduations, weddings, and parties.
My journey is intentional. Make yours intentional. Be an example to your kids. Be a grandparent to their kids. Teach them how to eat, move and play.
We can do this together. The struggle is worth it. We’re worth it. Our children and their children are worth it. Welcome. Let’s do this!
